Windows XP has always had a limited
firewall, however, the newly released Service Pack 2, has a few
more advanced features then the old firewall and is now enabled
by default.
Let's begin...
|
The
screen below shows the new XP Security Center, which can be accessed
from the Windows Control Panel. The important section to look at,
as far as SpamPal is concerned is the Firewall
section.
You can see that currently, the Windows firewall is set to ON.
This is usually because you don't have a firewall already setu or
/recognised
by Windows. |

|
|
If you are going to continue
to use the XP firewall then it's advisable to change a couple of
settings, to enable SpamPal to work correctly.
You should now click the option Manage
security settings for Windows Firewall
|
| You should
now see a screen like the one below: |
|
|
| You should
now click the Exceptions tab. |
| The screen
below shows currently, which programs the Windows Firewall will let
through and what we need to do now, it to add SpamPal
to that list of programs: |
|
|
| Click on the
Add Program
button and then select SpamPal for
Windows (from the available list of
programs) and so you should then see something that looks like this
screen: |
|
|
| Now click OK
to add SpamPal to the Exclusions
list. |
|
|
| Now click the Change
scope button and check that the settings are like this: |
